Field (venue). The Couple: Shane was from Alaska, so when he and Megan married, it was the merger of Alaska and Wisconsin. In planning their wedding, we pulled together details that combined the coolness of Alaska with warmer elements and tones.Wedding date: June 15, 2013.Inspiration: The couple wanted an elegant event that included more rustic and comfortable elements. To bring in the warmer elements, we created wooden menus and glass chargers. Deer antlers were used in the arrangements and moose antlers were used on the King's Table. We also included a lot of moss and candlelight.mhp0018mhp0085Color palette: Naturals—taupe, chocolate, fern.Budget: $100,000.
Guest count: 275.Most unique design element: The trees done by buds n bloom design studio—they were curly willow trees with myrtle foliage, hanging flowers with cherry brandy roses, mini green hydrangea, and baby’s breath. Hanging tillandsia spheres added texture. These trees brought a very elegant wedding back to nature with the foliage as the accent. It matched the greenery used in the hanging candlelight chandeliers.Biggest challenge: Our biggest challenge was taking the Green Bay Packer logos out of the room. At the Packer’s stadium nothing can be licensed. All the chairs had the Packer’s logo on them, so we had to remove them. We also wanted to bring in a more elegant chair. Working around licensing can be a tough issue for some, but working with the venue to ensure that you have covered your bases is essential.Learnings: I would certainly use a production company for accent lighting in the room. I have slowly learned that lighting is such an integral piece of the design. It creates such a mood, and it should be included in every budget.mhp0056
