They knew each other for many years before falling in love. Since they have Colorado connections, they wanted to share the Colorado mountain experience, as they love and remember it, with guests. Their rehearsal dinner was held on top of Beaver Creek Mountain in a cabin complete with a Snowcat sleigh ride up the mountain. The wedding ceremony and reception took place on the groom’s family’s private ranch in Eagle. Wedding date: Jan. 3, 2015 Inspiration: Winter wonderland was their inspiration. They wanted the wedding not to fall on a holiday, but to have a “winter-in-Colorado” feel for their guests.Color palette: Winter white, evergreen, pinecone brownGuest count: 150Most unique design element: One of the most challenging elements for this winter Colorado ranch wedding was building a tent structure in the dead of winter. With temperatures hovering around zero and a week until the wedding, building the tent, which included an elevated stage floor, along with power and heat, was a major team effort. Andy and Laura wanted a beautiful outdoor ceremony, looking out to the lake on the ranch property, with guests seated on bales of straw, a shoveled walkway to their ceremony site, and spectacular views of the ranch and surrounding mountains. Biggest challenge: The biggest challenges were the temperature, lack of power (we used generators), persistent snowfall, and private ranch location. Having a dance band from Denver brought up the mountain, traveling over two mountain passes; catering and catering staff brought in from Aspen; and providing rooms and transportation to all guests staying in the nearby resorts of Beaver Creek and Vail also added challenges. Advice: Always come prepared, especially for winter weddings, with hand warmers, hot tea for the guests before and after the outside ceremony, and a very detailed timeline as to set up and break down of the event. ••
